Eligibility

Nautical Science in 12th Standard or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English as separate BSc. in Nautical Science subjects with a PCM average of not less than 60%.

The candidate must have secured minimum 50% marks in English language in 10th or 12th standard exam.

  • Qualified in Online Common Entrance Test.The Candidate should appear for IMU Common Entrance Test and must pass the test. The application form for IMU CET is available on imu.edu.in
  • Passport is Mandatory.
  • Age limit: Maximum 25 Years.

Candidates must be medically fit including eye sight and hearing as prescribed in the Merchant Shipping (Medical Examination) Rules, 2000

Eye sight 6/6 with no colour blindness.

Minimum height should be 157 centimetres.

  • The candidate must have passed the 10th and 12th standard from a recognized board.
  • A relaxation of 5% marks in English shall be granted to the candidates who are native of the Lakshadweep and Andaman and Nicobar Islands and belong to Scheduled Tribes and who and both of whose parents were born in those islands and belong to the Scheduled Tribes of those islands.
  • The maximum age limit mentioned above shall be applicable for general category candidates.
  • The maximum age limit for candidates belonging to scheduled caste (SC) / scheduled tribe (ST) category shall be relaxed by 5 years.
  • The maximum age limit for candidates belonging to the non-creamy layer of other backward classes (OBC) category shall be relaxed by 3 years.

Course Description

  • The B.Sc. Nautical Science course is a 3-year residential program, structured into six academic semesters.
  • The course is designed to provide a solid foundation in Navigation, Mechanics, Cargo Work, and Practical Seamanship while imparting a comprehensive foundation in fundamental nautical sciences.
  • The curriculum also focuses on specialized knowledge of theoretical and practical aspects, with an emphasis on the skills and competencies required for Navigation, Cargo Operations, and Ship Maintenance & Operations.
  • The essence of the Nautical Science program is to train students to become competent deck officers in the maritime environment, capable of managing navigational and cargo work duties. Certificate

 After the completion of the course, the cadets will be issued with the CDC, INDoS No., Course Completion, and Degree Certificate. The cadets will join the Ship as a Deck Cadet.

After the completion of the course, the cadets will be issued with the STCW, CDC, INDoS No., Course Completion and Degree Certificate BSc in Nautical Science trains students in ship navigation, maritime laws, and seamanship.
