Eligibility

  • Candidates must have passed 12th standard or an equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English as separate subjects, with a PCM average of not less than 60%.

  • The candidate must have secured a minimum of 50% marks in English in the 10th or 12th standard examination.
  • Must be qualified in the Online Common Entrance Test. The candidate should appear for the IMU Common Entrance Test (IMU-CET) and must pass the test. The application form for IMU-CET is available at BTech Marine Engineering In Merchant Navy www.imu.edu.in.
  • Passport is mandatory.
  • Age limit: Maximum 25 years.

Medical Standards:

  • Candidates must be medically fit, including eyesight and hearing, as prescribed in the Merchant Shipping (Medical Examination) Rules, 2000.
  • Eyesight up to (+ or -) 2.5 with no color blindness.
  • Minimum height should be 157 centimeters.

Notes:

  • The candidate must have passed the 10th and 12th standard from a recognized board.

  • A relaxation of 5% marks in English shall be granted to candidates who are natives of Lakshadweep and Andaman & Nicobar Islands, belong to Scheduled Tribes, and whose both parents were born in those islands and belong to the Scheduled Tribes of those islands. Course Description

  • The B.Tech Marine Engineering course is a 4-year residential program, structured into eight academic semesters.

  • Apart from the regular curriculum, cadets are trained in our Ship-in-Campus to monitor normal operations of the main engine, including all auxiliary machinery, and develop the capability to troubleshoot malfunctions, perform repairs, and conduct maintenance.
  • Marine Engineering cadets are trained in using onboard workshops and tools to repair components and manufacture simple items. The training also includes the development of competency in verbal communication, safety culture in the maritime environment, and key aspects of shipping.BTech Marine Engineering In Merchant Navy

Career Path

After completing the course, cadets will be issued with the CDC, INDoS Number, and Course Completion Certificate. They will then join a ship as a 5th Engineer
